NHT! Nashville: “Wickedly Wonderful” event on August 29 to benefit TPAC Education

Wickedly Wonderful” is the theme of the 2009 Fest de Ville Gala on Saturday, August 29 at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center.  Décor, lighting design, entertainment and even the dinner menu are inspired by the Broadway blockbuster Wicked, playing TPAC September 2-20.

Exclusive opportunities to go behind the scenes of Wicked and to appear in a walk-on role in another Broadway tour on the TPAC stage are among the unique items to be auctioned at the event.

The 10th annual benefit event for TPAC’s cultural and educational programs, sponsored by Central Parking, celebrates the upcoming diverse performing arts season at the center. Robin Glover and Renée Chevalier are co-chairing the event, with Lauren Pitts serving as the auction chair.

The national tour of the Broadway production 9 to 5: The Musical will open at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center next year.

The first launch of its kind at TPAC, the musical comedy, with music and lyrics by Dolly Parton, will be rehearsed in Andrew Jackson Hall for several weeks, prior to opening the 2010-2011 season of HCA/TriStar Broadway at TPAC, September 21-26, 2010, and moving on to major cities nationwide.

Actor Alan Cumming goes green for Spider-Man musical role

The much-anticipated upcoming Julie Taymor directed Spider-Man musical entitled "Turn Off the Dark" just took another ambitious step towards completion. Scottish actor Alan Cumming has been confirmed as the pumpkin-bomb throwing Norman Osborn/The Green Goblin.


The actor will play the villain of SpiderMan: Turn Off the Dark on Broadway next February, opposite already confirmed Evan Rachel Wood, who will portray the Spider-Man alter-ego Peter Parker's love interest Mary Jane Watson in the production, which will feature new music composed by U2 stars Bono and The Edge.

Playbill.com is reporting that the groundbreaking Broadway musical Avenue Q will have its final curtain  at the John Golden Theatre on Sept. 31, exactly two months after its sixth anniversary on Broadway.
