Wickedly Wonderful” is the theme of the 2009 Fest de Ville Gala on Saturday, August 29 at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center.  Décor, lighting design, entertainment and even the dinner menu are inspired by the Broadway blockbuster Wicked, playing TPAC September 2-20.

Exclusive opportunities to go behind the scenes of Wicked and to appear in a walk-on role in another Broadway tour on the TPAC stage are among the unique items to be auctioned at the event.

The 10th annual benefit event for TPAC’s cultural and educational programs, sponsored by Central Parking, celebrates the upcoming diverse performing arts season at the center. Robin Glover and Renée Chevalier are co-chairing the event, with Lauren Pitts serving as the auction chair.

NHT! Nashville: Frankie Valli & The Four Seaons to perform one night only at TPAC

Valli_and_Seasons_-_Big_Finish.jpgThe extraordinary ongoing chapters of a five-decade career illustrate the unending public demand for the music of American rock-and-roll heroes Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons, who will play the Tennessee Performing Arts Center’s Andrew Jackson Hall, September 27, 2009. Tickets go on sale to the public on Sunday, August 16, at 10:00 a.m.

The singular body of work of the classic vocal group The Four Seasons; the compelling power of their life stories; and the timeless cultural presence of lead singer Frankie Valli’s iconic voice are all continuing to drive ticket sales the world over, despite the deepening economic recession. Responding to this popular demand, Valli and The Four Seasons have extended their national solo tour schedule well into 2010.

Why Jersey Boys may be the gayest musical you will ever see

jersey-boys-300x200.jpgIn the early 1960s, wunderkind lyricist and producer Bob Crewe began writing with Bob Gaudio, who had risen to fame at age 15 when, as a member of the Royal Teens, he co-wrote the hit “Short Shorts.” The first Crewe-Gaudio collaboration, “Sherry,” was written by Gaudio and produced by Crewe. It became a #1 single in 1962 for The Four Seasons (fronted by Frankie Valli). The pair wrote many other songs for the group, including “Big Girls Don’t Cry,” another #1 hit single, “Rag Doll,” also a #1 hit, “Ronnie,” “Walk Like a Man,” “Bye, Bye, Baby (Baby, Goodbye)” and “Connie O.”
